Retinogeniculate circuits

Functional properties of retinogeniculate circuits.

The retinogeniculate pathway is an ideal substrate for answering questions about the relationship between spike timing and the communication of information between brain areas. By recording simultaneously from monosynaptically connected neurons in the eye and LGN, we have been able to determine the relationship between specificity and strength of neuronal connections as well as identify the rules that govern retinogeniculate processing and the improvement of signal to noise between synaptically connected neurons.
